Art Journey

A Series of Six Creative Workshops

The Art Journey is a six-part creative process that invites women to explore their personal stories through art, movement and shared reflection. Across six workshops, the group moves step by step from first encounters toward deep artistic expression, combining individual artworks with a collective creation.

Throughout the journey, the participants work with journals, abstract painting, installations, audio recordings and — as a shared centerpiece — the creation of handcrafted bird masks. These masks become symbols of courage, identity and transformation, and will later be photographed in nature as part of a poetic group performance.

As the workshops unfold, each woman develops her own artistic language and personal narrative, supported by a safe and collaborative environment. The materials created along the way come together in a collective art book, which weaves written stories, photographs and visual works into a unified composition.

The Journey concludes with a public exhibition, where the individual pieces and the group’s bird-mask portrait series are presented side by side. This final presentation allows the personal and collective voices of the women to be seen, honoured and shared with the wider community.

Path to the Art Book

The Creative Beginning
Inspiration

The creative process of the art book begins within the workshops. Through journaling, conversation and artistic exploration, the participants gradually gather the material that will shape the book. In a supportive and attentive environment, the women reflect on their experiences, memories and personal journeys.

The journal work plays a central role in this process. Week by week, the participants continue writing and developing their stories. These reflections form the foundation for the narratives that will later appear in the art book.

Stories Take Shape
Expression

Over time, the stories and artworks grow into a visual and narrative composition. Each participant will be represented in the art book with several pages. Her story will appear in Persian and in German translation, accompanied by photographs of her artworks and elements of the collective bird mask project.

Through careful graphic design, the book brings together text, image and artistic expression. Individual voices and shared creative work become part of a collective form that can be preserved and shared with a wider audience.

Exhibition & Book Presentation

Voices, Images and Transformation

This project will culminate in a public exhibition in  Kulturwerkstatt auf AEG in Nuremberg, a vibrant place for artistic exchange and contemporary cultural work.

The exhibition will present the artistic results of the workshop journey. Visitors will encounter the individual artworks created by the participants, including paintings, journals, photographic works and the collective bird mask project that developed throughout the process.

At the center of the exhibition stands the art book, which gathers the women’s personal stories together with images of their artworks. Each participant is represented with several pages, presenting her story in Persian and in German translation alongside visual documentation of the creative process.

The opening event will include a vernissage with reading, where selected texts from the book will be shared with the audience. Additional reading evenings during the exhibition will offer deeper insight into the voices and experiences behind the artworks.
